Xiaomi has announced that its App Store has crossed 10 billon app downloads till now and the company is now preparing to launch it in markets outside China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
According to the company, the Xiaomi App Store sees over 50 million downloads on a daily basis and has generated 364 million yuan in revenue for developers between Jan and October 2014. Introduced in 2012, the app store was only open to Chinese developers until now, but Xiaomi has now opened an international developer website, where devs from Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan can submit their applications. Although, the company has not stated when the app store will reach more markets, but it did say that the same will be happening soon.
Brazil, Mexico high priority markets than US: Barra
In related news, Xiaomi Global VP Hugo Barra has stated that Brazil and Mexico are higher priority markets of the company than the United States. He was speaking a press event in India recently. The company was earlier supposed to enter the two countries this year, but it has now postponed the plans for 2015.
According to Barra, Xiaomi will now enter Brazil sometime in the first half of next year. There is no word on Mexico launch. The company is also in talks with Foxconn to start Xiaomi device production in Brazil in 2015.
